FOOTNOTES
1. Since its original passage in 1987, the McKinney Act has been amended to modify, discontinue and add homeless assistance programs. As of August 1993, the Research on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Treatment for Homeless Persons Demonstration was no longer receiving new funds and the Supplemental Assistance for Facilities to Assist the Homeless Program had been replaced with Shelter Plus Care. Two new programs had been added: Domiciliary Care for Homeless Veterans and the Homeless Families Support Services Demonstration. The McKinney Act also authorizes surplus federal property programs.
2. Part 2 of this report includes an appendix with detailed definitions and examples of metro-nonmetro and urban-rural classifications
