Housing Assistance Council Awarded $2.7 Million To Build Housing Capacity Across Rural America

Washington, DC, January 19, 2021 - The Housing Assistance Council (HAC) received a $2.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to help build the capacity of community-based organizations across rural America. HUD's Rural Capacity-Building for Affordable Housing and Community Development grant (RCB) provides support to national organizations to spur affordable housing activities and community development specifically in rural places. HAC will use the RCB funding to significantly impact the capacity of 65 nonprofit housing organizations, municipalities, and tribal entities in their efforts to undertake affordable housing and community development activities in some of the most challenging and overlooked communities in the nation.

"After a year of unprecedented disruption from the COVID-19 health pandemic and its economic fallout, rural communities and organizations need more support than ever. Capacity Building will be imperative for local organizations to continue their undaunted work of serving and building their communities" said David Lipsetz, CEO of the Housing Assistance Council. "We look forward to working with both HUD, and our community-based partners in this effort."

The Housing Assistance Council is a national nonprofit organization that helps build lives and communities across rural America. For 50 years, HAC has provided financial products, technical assistance and training, policy formulation, and research and data services to help build homes and improve lives in rural communities across the united states.
